New Bronte Patrolman Opens Texas Highway Patrol Substation
Robert D. Sanders and family relocated to Bronte where he opened the first Texas Highway Patrol substation in Coke County. Sanders, a four year patrolman from Hereford and a 1960 Central High School San Angelo graduate, will patrol Bronte five days weekly with varying days off. Justice of the Peace Earl D. Nutter says records show the new patrolman has begun work.

Soaking rains fell across the Bronte region on Monday improving crop prospects. Bronte measurements show about two inches with surrounding areas ranging above and below. ranchers reported totals from 1.7 to 2.7 inches, and additional rain fell later in the day.

Bronte Church of Christ Hosts Gospel Meeting
A gospel meeting began Monday night at Bronte Church of Christ with evangelist Lloyd B K Ash of Abilene and local minister Cecil Cox leading the singing. Services are 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. through Saturday, with regular worship hours Sunday. Crowds have been good and an invitation to attend the remaining services is extended.
