Roger Brown a Big Spring attorney captured a seat in the Texas House of Representatives in a special election for the 78th District by a 110 vote margin. Frank Hardesty placed second, Harold Hall third. Howard County backed Hardesty with 1081 votes to Brown 1057 and Hall 639. Coke County turnout was 182 votes.
