Texas welfare officials warn AFDC costs rising fast with federal court rulings and growing population. The Welfare Board secretary calls the current 80 million dollar annual ceiling unreal, as total public assistance nears 364.3 million for the last fiscal year and AFDC rolls climb by about 10,262 per month since August.
Congressman Omar Burleson of Texas announces re election bid. He filed for the Democratic Primary on May 2 1970 after serving in the 80th Congress and successive terms. He sits on the Ways and Means Committee, a leading House panel.
