Birthdays and mid semester exams are noted along with plans for a singing convention at Kickapoo.
Robert Lee volunteers stated they are ready to respond anywhere in the county to fight fires. Residents are urged to give exact directions when calling 120 or 111 to ensure rapid arrival. The department previously raised funds for a Ford fire truck and reports 80 percent attendance at semi monthly meetings with fines for absences.
Mrs Buck Coleman Bronte Hi senior sponsor announced the Stamps Quartet show was postponed because one member is ill. Ticket buyers can get refunds or keep tickets for a rescheduled date when the group returns.
The Robert Lee Fire Department sponsors a talent contest on Monday night February 2 inviting all. Admission is one pie per family. The event will be at the high school with pies as a rumored prize and entries due by Saturday January 31 to compete.

The social news is pending as club reporters seek assistance. Jean Smith daughter of the Otis Smiths is improving and Mrs Spoonts hosted the Junior Study Club gathering last Friday.
John Clark announces an all day singing convention at Kickapoo Church next Sunday January 25 with dinner on the grounds at noon. Solo singers and quartets from Abilene Ballinger Bronte and Robert Lee are invited and urged to come early and stay for the day.

McGinley of Robert Lee on Saturday, and Mrs. G. C. R. Gentry dismissed. E. J. Thompson admitted Sunday. Mrs. W. M. McCutchen, Mrs. J. O. McGinley and baby daughter dismissed Monday. Mrs. E. J. Thomason and Mrs. Peggy Myrick dismissed. Harley Garcia died after admission on Tuesday. Mrs. L. B. Dixon dismissed. Mrs. Baylor Walker Judy Samingo and Ronnie Bramlett admitted Wednesday. Judy for tonsillectomy and Ronnie age 3 for pneumonia treatment.
Bronte Baptist Church invites all to Sunday School at 10, preaching at 11, and evening worship at 6 45. The sermon will be titled Judgment to Come and delivered by Rev C B Blake pastor.
L. F. Youngblood of Bronte joined Cumbie Ivey Judge Bob L. Davis Mayor Bruce Clift and Commissioner H. C. Varnadore of Robert Lee at a Big Spring session Tuesday on West Texas water supplies and conservation. About 400 people attended as experts outlined needs and possible use of existing sources with hope for definite achievements from the daylong meeting.
Bronte has been placed in District 10-B for the new football term starting September. The district includes Lorraine Roby Hermleigh Robert Lee and Bronte. Bronte will host Roby October 22 Lorraine November 5 and Hermleigh October 28 with other games to be announced. Dean was elected executive committee chair and Gassiot named secretary treasurer. Bronte plans to raise funds for a lighted field as it has no turf or lit facilities.

Mayor Whitt bought an ice cream for his granddaughter Delryn Rae Fleming in San Angelo. Church attendance urged.
Twenty six Bronte Lions Club members and one guest met in the Bronte Cafe at 12 15 PM for talks on a football field lighting project a fundraising auction water parley at Big Spring and Bronte Boy Scout plans A motion postponed the auction to February 7 to boost participation Funds from the sale will back the lighted field A committee was formed to work with the American Legion on the Scout effort and district governor Frank Robertson noted the state Lions Convention will be in Corpus Christi May 14 15 The meeting featured plans for the field and Bronte’s upcoming football district assignment with Ted Dean noting Bronte lacks lights and turf all others in town have them Euston Woullard of the San Angelo Telephone Co attended as a guest with many club members listed.
