Blackwell Community Notes From February Meeting and Visits

WMU group met at the Baptist Church on February 19 with Mrs. O. T. Colvin presiding and prayers led by Mrs. Gordon Montgomery. The program featured Women Missionary Union in the Northwest, presented by Mrs. Vena Bryant. Attendees included Mrs. R. D. Nabors, James L. Clark, Willie Burwick, Ninnie Kinard, Bama Sliger, and extended visits noted with Artie Walls and relatives from Robert Lee. Burial arrangements for Elby Luther Clepper outlined. Various local visits and minor weather note of 0.27 inch rain recorded. multiple families visited across Stephenville, Mineral Wells, Jacksboro, Jackson, Odessa, and other nearby towns.

Bronte Students Earn Dean's Honor Roll at ASU

Three Bronte students earned places on Angelo State University fall semester Dean's Honor Roll. Lillian Kay Strickland is a sophomore English major. Delma Anna Ensor is a freshman education major. Frances Eubanks is a sophomore elementary education major.

Navy Seabee Chew Returns From Vietnam Tour

Gulfport Mississippi Navy Petty Officer Third Class John E. Chew son of Mr and Mrs L R Chew of Blackwell returned to Gulfport with U S Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 183 from its third Vietnam tour. The Seabees operated in the five northern provinces providing engineering and construction support to U S and Allied forces.
