Card of Thanks from Mrs. W D McDonald thanks friends and Bronte Hospital staff for care. Meeting note for March 3 urges all ladies to attend. Local social updates include visits, weekend guests, and party attendance in Winters and nearby towns.
Abilene pastor Rev J W Caudle and Sue Moore of Cisco joined multiple area families for Sunday visits including the Nixons Gleghorns Derricks and Clark families. Other guests included Doyle Gleghorn Ollie Mae and Gary and Homer Clark. The WMU met at the church with programs on Prayer It Do Return Visit and Prayer Fountain of Energy led by Mrs Herbert Holland and others.
Bronte voters will elect two city council members in early April with the exact date pending a legal opinion on combining the city and school trustee elections. Terms of Matthew Caperton and Bob Wilson expire this year. both have served four years. Existing holdovers include Mayor J. A. Stephenson and council members H. A. Springer C. E. Bruton and Bill Thomas. Candidates must file at least 30 days before the election. any Bronte resident who meets qualifications may run.
Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Sims and Glenn and Mrs. T. F. Sims, Sr., traveled to San Angelo on Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Royce Hailey. They then proceeded to Christoval to see Brooks Jones, brother of the elder Mrs. Sims.
Mr and Mrs Don Glenn of Monahans visited friends and relatives in Bronte last weekend.
The Our Soil Our Strength core soil conservation district reports new Great Plains Conservation Program applicants from Victor Wojtek, Joe G Wilkins, and Olin Blanks. Ponds completed by Bronte residents and terrace work near Bronte are noted alongside new federal wildlife habitat measures under P L 566 and P L 85 865.
The district board changed its prior decision and adopted a wait and see stance. The committee, while meeting requirements, remains hopeful a home can still be built at the chosen site as progress toward funding and other specifications continues.
The Bronte Cub Scouts held their annual Blue Gold banquet in the school cafeteria on Monday night February 23 with all four local dens represented. Eden Scout Director J. C. Bernson attended and the Rev. Jimmy Campbell served as emcee. Den 2 performed a skit as songs and decorations featured blue and gold.
