New Law Boosts Coke County Cotton Acreage
Coke County's cotton quota rises about 3000 acres under a new federal law raising the national allotment. ASC Secretary J. E. Quisenberry says Coke may have around 10 700 acres next year with final figures pending from the state office. The quota uses 65 percent of a three year average or 40 percent of the best year, limited to 47 percent of total crop land. Localities with large cotton areas may lose, but Coke County benefits according to Quisenberry.
