Referendum to Expand Predator Control for Texas Sheep and Goats
Texas sheep and goat producers vote March 27 in a 73 county referendum to fund a stronger predator control program. The measure, sponsored by the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association, seeks a deduction on marketed sheep and goats to finance protection amid declines in wool and mohair, including 41 percent wool loss in Pecos County from 1960 to 1970 and widespread predator damage by coyotes, bobcats, dogs, red foxes, raccoons, and other species.
