Bobby Hart and his family have moved to Bronte where he serves as the new highway patrolman. Originally from Coleman, Hart arrives from Eagle Pass after 14 months there and 18 months in the patrol with four months of training. He and his wife Alfredia Poldrack have a three month old son, Shannon DeWayne, and plan to engage with the community to improve safety and lawfulness in the area.

One Car Accident Near Silver State Highway 208
Patrolman Bob Hart reported a one car crash 17 miles north of Robert Lee on State Highway 208. A white 1966 Pontiac coupe linked to James P. Kennedy, believed from Snyder, was involved. The driver remained unfound by Thursday morning. The car likely struck a deer, which was not located. The back seat interior was partially burned. Investigation continues.

Auction Draws Large Crowd in Bronte Area
A large crowd gathered Thursday morning for a sale of goods from Caribou Craft Camper Manufacturing Co. once run in part by Matthew Caperton of Bronte. Dub Bryant Auction Co. of Big Spring conducted the auction as bidding moved quickly around noon.

Last Rites Held For Pedro Reyes
Funeral services were held for Pedro Pete Reyes 68 at St James Catholic Church. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery under Newby Funeral Home direction. Reyes died at Bronte Hospital after a Friday illness suspected stroke. He was a longtime Bronte resident with a large in town family including wife three sons Richard and Robert of Bronte Benjamin of Hereford two daughters Mrs Lewis Minjarez and Mrs Simon Olivas of Bronte, 23 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Bronte High senior Janet Thomas has been named Bronte's 1970 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow for her score on a homemaking knowledge test taken December 2. She receives a silver charm and becomes eligible for a college scholarship. state winners gain larger awards and a Britannica set for their schools as they advance to the national American Homemaker of Tomorrow contest.
