Larry Abbott Named Partner in San Angelo Insurance Firm

Larry Abbott, a native of San Angelo and known in Bronte, has been named a partner in the Russell, McDonald, Duncan Insurance Agency in San Angelo. He is married to Rita McCutchen of Bronte. they have four children and reside at 2807 Catalina Drive.

New 1969 Car Licenses Go On Sale In Coke County

New automobile and other vehicle license plates for 1969 went on sale Monday in the office of O B Jacobs Coke County tax assessor collector. About 3 000 tags are on hand for sale to vehicle operators. Purchasers must bring title certificate 1968 license receipt current address and ZIP code. State law requires registration in the county of residence and proof of ownership to avoid penalties.

Trinity University Choir to Perform in Abilene

Forty Trinity University Choir students visit Abilene on Saturday February 8 for the final stop of a Centennial Concert Tour. The 8 p.m. program at Central Presbyterian Church features sacred and secular works. Director is Claude Zetty. tour spans Texas and Oklahoma. Margi Oglesby of Bronte is a choir member.

Ballinger Young Men to Sponsor Machinery Auction

Ballinger Young Farmer Chapter will sponsor a farm machinery auction sale Saturday February 22 at the old baseball park on the Bronte highway. Owners of surplus machinery are invited to bring it to the sale and a small commission will be charged on each sale. Further information may be obtained from Ballinger High School vocational agriculture department.

Bronte Junior High Boys Triumph in Highland Consolation

Bronte junior high boys basketball won the consolation bracket at Highland last weekend, beating Divide 41-24 after opening with a 44-40 loss to Livonie. L Freeman led scorers with 21 in the second game, while Skelton added 14 and Reyes 6. The Bronte girls split two contests, top-scoring Golson with 11 in a 23-6 win over Loraine. Bronte Pee Wee and junior high squads swept Blackwell in Monday action, with J Freeman leading the boys 20-9 final. The junior high girls fell 29-22 to Blackwell. Bronte hosts a Miles tournament this weekend starting Thursday.

Class Reunion Honors Mary Hardin Baylor College Alumni

Mrs. Lee's class marked the 25th anniversary of their reunion with a luncheon tea open house and dinner at Mary Hardin Baylor College. Mrs G L Arbogast visited Bronte and Belton with them while en route home their son Royce L Lee, UT Austin student, serves as assistant Sergeant at Arms in the Texas Senate under Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes.

Coke Highway To Be Rebuilt In Texas

The Texas Highway Commission approved a Supplement to the 1969-70 Consolidated Highway Program in Austin. J A Snell announced Coke County includes a project to construct two added lanes and rebuild existing lanes on U S Highway 87 from the Sterling County line to the Tom Green County line, a 4.6 mile stretch costing about 1,018,000 dollars.

First Baptist Church Bronte to Host Youth Rally

A group from First Baptist Church of Bronte will attend a youth rally at 7 30 p m on Saturday in Robert See Baptist Church. The rally is a monthly affair for churches in the area hosted by the local church community.

Weekend Visits Across Seagraves and Fort Worth

Mr. and Mrs. Allen Byrd of Seagraves spent the weekend here with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rogers. They visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bullard at Oak Creek Lake. Manny Turner and son of Fort Worth also spent the weekend here with relatives. Mrs. F S Higginbotham returned Monday from a seven week visit in Houston with her daughters Mrs. Bill Myers and Mrs. George Hughes and families.
