Moonwatch on San Angelo Campus Tracks Satellites
On the San Angelo College campus the Moonwatch station uses 36 M-17 telescopes on 46 inch mounts with a 55 by 6 foot wind break to observe satellites. Maj. Flynn coordinates visual tracking, timing with WWV signals, and rapid data transmission to Cambridge for global comparison. Amateur astronomers can buy the satellite finder and scale map through National Geographic Society.
