Mail Early Advises Post Office For Christmas Mail
The Postal Service urged earlier mailing for Christmas parcels and letters due to high volume from the 15 state UPS strike area. Dec 3 for parcels and Dec 10 for letters and cards are recommended to ensure delivery by Christmas. International mail dates unchanged. overseas items should be sent now. The Revolutionary War peace treaty with Britain was signed on November 30, 1782.

Farm Bureau Sending 5 to Convention
Coke Sterling County Farm Bureau will send five voting delegates to the 43rd annual Texas Farm Bureau meeting December 5 to 8 in Fort Worth. Finis Harmon of Ro bert Lee, president, noted 460 members will participate with over 1 000 delegates from 210 counties. Delegates include Finis Harmon Horace Scott Jr James B Pentecost. In 1791 Benjamin Banneker a black scientist inventor and mathematician joined a six man survey team drafting Washington DC plans. When Major L Enfant resigned to France Banneker reproduced the entire plan from memory keeping the capital on its original course.
