First 1957 Bale Ginned at Bronte
S. M. Mackey of Norton ginned the first 1957 bale of cotton at Bronte on a Wednes day. The 496 pound bale came from about 2,000 pounds of unginned cotton. J. D. Luttrell Jr. said new machinery delayed ginning until Wednesday and expressed optimism for a good season. He noted most cotton in the area is young and would improve with rain. Ginning was free for Mr Mackey with a premium planned in Bronte.
