The First Methodist Church will host a Vacation Bible School next week with daily 9 to 11 am classes for all ages. Joy Lynn Wilkins directs the program, with Mrs. George Thomas as song director and several listed ladies assisting in beginner to junior high divisions.
Bronte Longhorns start summer drills next Monday under coach Cecil Toliver as the task of building a team in three weeks begins. Prospects look solid with only three lettermen lost to graduation and several promising freshmen expected to mature this season.
Andra Cooper 13, daughter of Mr and Mrs Dick Cooper of Bronte, is improving at Clinic Hospital San Angelo after a golf cart overturned injuring her foot July 29. She has undergone three surgeries and is reported doing well.

Funeral services for Mary Clark 84 will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at Bronte Church of Christ with burial in Fairview Cemetery. She died Tuesday at her son John Clark's home after a long illness. Born May 28 1883 in Llano County she married Henry Hayden Clark Jan 5 1905. Survived by sons John Bronte and M L Clark Tacoma Washington. seven grandchildren 27 great grandchildren four great great grandchildren two nieces and a nephew. Grandsons pallbearers.
Four civil cases and potential DWI matter set for the August term of List District Court to begin August 21 with Judge Joe L. Mays presiding. Petit juries were sent to 38 prospective jurors.

The Bronte Youth Choir will perform at Trinity Methodist Church in San Angelo during a revival service starting at 8 p.m. Youth are invited to join, with boys asked to wear white shirts and ties. Bronze youth meet at 6 p.m. at First Methodist Church for rehearsal and transport is provided.
