Group Organizes to Aid Baseball in Bronte
Bill Jackson was elected president of the baseball league at a Monday meeting. Other officers are Bobby Hart as vice president Shirley Waldrop as secretary and Charlotte Jackson as treasurer. The group aims to promote youth baseball and raise funds to buy uniforms for the Senior Little League next year. Businessmen will be approached for donations and others may contact Charlotte Jackson or Eddie Alexander. The Senior Little League tied Robert Lee for the league title and four players made the all star team which won the district and reached the area tournament.

Western Auto To Open Monday In Robert Lee
The Western Auto Store owned by Bb Wrinkle will open for business Monday August 9 in Robert Lee in a new 45 by 102 foot metal building on Commmerce Street. Martin Lee Construction Co. built the structure and a formal opening is planned in the following weeks with a full line of hardware tires batteries television sets and appliances. The Wrinkles and their children Kerry Don and Kristi recently moved from Bronte where he operated the Gulf Station.

Tennyson Social Roundup Shows Local Visits Across Towns
Residents from McCamey, San Angelo, Bronte, Ballinger and Rankin visited families in Tennyson area. Notable names include D L Brunson, Leonard Marburg, Glenwood Marrburger, Tom Green, Wuemling, Laton Seawright, Ivy Lane, Arrotts, Boatrights and Corleys. Weekend guests came from Bronte and Grape Creek with travels to Shannon Hospital and San Antonio.
Auto Wrecks Reported in Coke County
Patrolman Bobby Hart reports two automobile accidents in Coke County. On July 24 near Bronte, Ray Lee Rager of Grapevine drove a 1957 Ford coupe on U S Highway 277 when a tire blew and the car left the road. Rager was uninjured. his wife Elman Sue suffered a forehead gash and a bruised knee. their daughter Shonda Sue, six months, possibly concussion. Injured were taken to Bronte and Shannon Hospitals. Donal and Ronald Cooper aided at the scene. On July 23 near Robert Lee, Don Jewell of Midland crashed a 1969 Pontiac after being allegedly run off the road by a Chevrolet pickup. no injuries reported.

Three Complete Courses at TSTI Waco Graduation
Three bronze young men will receive certificates of completion from the James Connally Campus of Texas State Technical Institute in Waco. They finish courses in meat processing and marketing and in livestock and ranch operations at an August 5 ceremony in the Heart of Texas Coliseum alongside the first Bachelor of Technology and Bachelor of Technical Education diploma recipients. TSTI is the state’s first technical institute to grant diplomas and also operates campuses in Amarillo Harlingen and Sweetwater.

The annual 4-H Fun Day will be held Monday August 9 in Robert Lee Park. Registration starts at 12 30 p m. 4 H members are invited to attend with recreation swimming and several events on the afternoon program and a supper and evening program for parents.
