The Bronte ladies softball team defeated Robert Lee 12 to 7 in a Tuesday night practice on the local field. The new club has 18 players, with Henry Walker as manager seeking more members. Pitchers included James Ash, Bobby Vaughn, Ralph Dunklin, and Mmes. Sid Eubanks, Albert Grace, Bob Wilson, E. G. Collins, Wayne Dunham, Johnnie Sims, Jessie Pearl Renshaw, Marla Rees, and Mmes also on the roster. Bronte will host Wingate Friday at 7:30.

Jerry McShan Heads Overseas for Korea Duty
Jerry McShan son of Mr. and Mrs. W B McShan will leave tomorrow for an overseas assignment in Korea. He joined the U S Army on November 28, 1961 and completed basic training at Fort Carson Colorado. He has been stationed at Fort Sill Oklahoma since March 4. The family traveled from Abilene to visit him before his return to Oklahoma and on to Bronte with stops in Wichita Falls.

District PTA Spring Planning Meeting in Sterling City
LeDrew Arrott and Foy Moore attended a District PTA planning meeting in Sterling City. Mrs Arrott is the incoming president. Coke County chapters provided morning refreshments. The meeting covered district officer elections workshops and lunch. Mr and Mrs Austin Collins of Maryneal plan to move to Bronte for the summer and she will work at Bronte Hospital during vacations.

Henry to lead stock judging team to Lubbock event
Henry will take a live stock judging team to Lubbock Saturday to enter an area judging contest. Winners in this contest will qualify for state contests. Three school softball teams will go to Miles Friday to enter the district softball tournament. Teams will be composed of high school girls, elementary girls and elementary boys. The Senior class will sponsor a car wash Saturday at the Texaco and Gulf stations. School officials have announced that the 1962 annuals have arrived and will be distributed today.

Vickie Shurley has been released from Bronte Hospital after an appendectomy performed last week. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Shurley.
