Barnes Seeks Stronger Drug Education and Enforcement
Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes urged strengthening drug education in public schools and adding drug experts to teaching staffs while criticizing low state spending on drug law enforcement. Gov. Smith backed tougher penalties for pushers and personal, targeted narcotics education. He and Barnes also pursued funding reallocation to boost enforcement without raises.
