Residents of Coke County plan the Second Annual Soil Conservation Field Day on Thursday April 28. The event features nationally known celebrities joining the soil demonstration and program organizers promise a big turnout.
The event will be carried on a national radio hookup and photographed by newsreel cameramen. Last year 3,300 farmers and ranchers attended and this year the program is expected to exceed 5,000 attendees.
Classified notes advertise baby chicks and started chicks from Williams Hatchery and Supply in Ballinger, windmills from Lee Supply Co of Robert Lee, along with Purina Chick Startena feed. Also listed are a table top butane range from R T Caperton and farm items with contact at the Enterprise office.
Senator Lyndon Johnson and Congressmen O C Fisher and W H Rampy will attend and speak at the event highlighting farm and ranch equipment demonstrations. The program lists terracing plowing fertilizing soil tests and other field activities plus a barbecue lunch for visitors. Community members and families are noted in ancillary social items.
