The Bronte Hospital waiting area has been rebuilt with brick and glass, separating it from patient rooms. New glass doors at the front and at the partition reduce noise and improve appearance, said Dr John R Harris.
Grady Baker announced this week that he has accepted the job as superintendent of Walnut Springs schools. He currently serves as grade school principal and was elected to the post in March. Baker noted his newly purchased acreage is nearby and that he will relocate to serve the district.
The Bakers say they plan to relocate to the new area to look after their place. They have taught in the Bronte Schools for three years and Mrs. Baker will not teach after this year. They regret leaving Bronte after enjoying the community and the friendships formed.
Bruce Clift oversees a crew adding a rear extension to his funeral home for storage and a covered loading platform. Plans include a second restroom and partition changes while interior redecorating was completed earlier.
Visiting Mrs. Charlie Keeney Sunday were her son and family. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Keeney and children of San Angelo.
Bronte School system workers were rehired at a meeting last Thursday. Lunchroom staff Mary Walker R W Sims T G Gleghorn and George Braswell return. Bus drivers T G Gleghorn T E Tidwell Pete Gentry Roy Baker and Virgil Cole will drive again. Clark Glenn re elected as school secretary.
The Bronte Enterprise reports Monroe Alexander was re elected custodian of the high school building with Clayborn Webb and J I Adair as custodians of the elementary building. Trustees voted to buy a new adding machine for both buildings. Newly elected trustees Luther McCutchen Marvin Corley and J M Rippetoe were sworn in and the board reorganized with J B Morrow as president Marvin Corley as vice president and J W Teague as secretary.
Bronze schools dismiss for Easter today at 1 30 PM. No school next Monday. Classes resume Tuesday at regular time. Garland Black announced school will be dismissed for the summer on Friday May 24.
