The Bronze regional champion girls volleyball squad leaves Friday morning April 25 for Austin to contest the state tournament. They face Anthony at 4 p.m. in the Gregory Gym Annex on the UT campus, with a possible 10:45 a.m. game Saturday if they win. Coach Zula Sweeten leads the team.
The Bronte High School all sports banquet will be at 7 30 p m Tuesday in the Community Building Bronte County Park. Ray Overton Cooper High School football coach and Texas High School Coaches Association chairman will speak. Tickets are $2 50 and available in the school office until Monday afternoon.
The Bronte Longhorn Band received a Division II excellent rating at the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest held Tuesday at Cooper High School in Abilene. Jayton earned a Division I rating. other Class B schools included Trent Loraine Rochester Jayton Roby.
Tony Mackey son of Mr and Mrs Dolan Mackey earns the Vice President's Honor Roll at TexAS State Technical Institute Rolling Plains Campus Sweetwater He is in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program with a 3.5 GPA required for honors.
Coke County 4 H Clubs schedule a licensed veterinarian to vaccinate pets for rabies on Friday April 18. Dr Paul Hudman will be in Robert Lee at the show barn 9 to 10 am and at the Bronte county park 10 30 to 11 30 am. Rabies shots cost 4.00 per pet and other disease vaccinations may be available upon request.
Omega Coterie of Blackwell gathered April 8 at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall with Mrs L B White and Miss Bertha Smith as hostesses. Mrs Jessie N Yarbrough of Robert Lee spoke as Coke County Historical Survey Committee chair. Refreshments served to two visitors and numerous members.
