Funeral services set for James C Harwell of Bronte
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church Bronte for James Chester Harwell 58 who died Tuesday at his ranch home southwest of Bronte from a gunshot wound. Clift Funeral Home in charge with burial at Fairview Cemetery. Justice of the Peace ruled the shooting a personal safety related incident. Survivors include his wife two daughters five sisters and four grandchildren. Pallbearers listed with honorary pallbearers selected.

Bronte voters will choose a mayor and three council members in an election on Tuesday April 7. Candidates include for mayor H O Whitt and Royce Lee while council hopefuls are Martin Lee Matthew G Caperton James O Pitts Billy Joe Luckett and Elmer Hurley. Holdover councilmen are Royce Fancher and C E Bruton with Cedi Kemp not seeking re election and Norman R Riker not seeking another term as mayor. Polls open 8 a m to 7 p m at city hall with Noah Pruitt Sr as election judge. Only residents within city limits who have paid their poll tax or are otherwise eligible may vote.
