National India Rubber Co ends gum clothing line
The National India Rubber Company will discontinue gum clothing production at its factory to focus on other processes. No layoffs are expected as workers will transfer to other departments. The gum clothing unit had operated since 1865, employing 15 to 100 people at times. The wire department expansion is under way, with new machinery to be installed by January and 600 workers expected, up from 150.

Last night about 9 o clock Night Officer James W. Goff responded to groans at Church and High. A man lay wounded with a gash over the right eye. two stitches were later applied by Dr. W F Duffy. The assailant is known to police, but no warrant had been sworn by noon today.
