Local Coast Guard Auxiliary Touted as Strongest Group
The local Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 805 is lauded as the strongest group in Division I. A 28 foot steel boat is being built for patrols by division members, with a planned charter night to follow. The unit aided a WJAR-TV crew at Goat Island and patrolled during the America's Cup race in Newport. A September 22 meeting formed a membership committee and a seamanship course is set for October 20 with further gatherings announced for September 29 at the Harriet Bradford Inn.
