Bristol Historical Society Preserves Jail Era and Rich Local Heritage
The Bristol Historical Society houses a former county jail building on Jail Lane with three original cells on the upper floor and a restored front room filled with portraits, furniture, and period artifacts including a Burnside chair, Dickens table, and a vast book collection. The museum showcases D.A.R. rooms, a children's room with 120 year old dolls, war relics, graveyard of ships records, and the Bache Book with letters from famous figures, reflecting Bristol's seafaring and Revolutionary past.
