Frankie Lewis Cranstons face Babe Ethier and Jack Gallagher as top pitchers in Twilight League with Ethier aiming to beat Gallagher based on season marks. Higbee to Take Six Week Trip Visiting Rubber Co. Branches

James Brown Herreshoff and his curious inventions are recalled as his children visit Bristol to remove three important examples of his art. Mr Herreshoff will be 95 on March 18 and remains in excellent health. His photograph with his brother Francis was taken in New York.

Brothers Herreshoff unveil heroic steam transport relics

James B. Herreshoff and Francia Herreshoff pose in New York City as three remarkable inventions depart for a transportation evolution exhibit. A hot air bicycle, a coil boiler steam generator model, and a rowing tricycle are to be shown in an institution. The hot air bicycle, first built in 1868, toured Rhode Island and New England before a 1872 accident ended its use.

Insurance Raises on Colt and Guiteras Schools

The Town Council voted to raise school building insurance for Colt Memorial High School from 105000 to 155000 and furnishings to 8000, and for Guiteras Memorial School from 75000 to 125000. Insurance will be placed with five local agencies. The semi annual sinking funds report was filed and 6000 was authorized for current expenses. A police chief recommended revoking Raf aele Abenante pool license, he was sentenced to a year in jail. A petition to hold an entertainment at Pastime Theatre was referred, and a sign permit for 44 State Street was granted.

Legion Meetings and Social Highlight Kearney Post

American Legion Post No 6 and Ladies Auxiliary met at Legion Headquarters with many members present. Archibald Adams spoke on membership growth and Armistice Day plans were postponed to next meeting. Auxiliary announced a harvest supper on Oct 24 with Elizabeth Carr chairing. An Armistice Day Ball committee elected James T Pierce chair, Janns Brosseau secretary treasurer, Enos and Foli to music. Silver Moon Orchestra provided music and square dances were led by Mayor Fred M Straight.

Tablet ceremony postponed at Porrs homestead Bristol

The proposed placing of a tablet at the Porrs homestead at Silver Creek sponsored by the Rhode Island Historical Society and scheduled for late this month has been indefinitely postponed. The dwelling, built in 1680 by Deacon Nathaniel Buosworth, is Bristol's first house and the site for commemorating the town's settlement.

Democratic caucus called for Bristol County electors

The Democratic Town Committee calls a caucus of first and second district electors at Bristol County Court House next Wednesday evening September 26 at 7 30 to elect delegates alternates to the State Convention and the First Congressional District Convention elect a Town Committee for two years from January 1 and elect members of the State Central Committee for districts one and two.
