Removal of Phoenix Office Moves to New Printing Plant

The Phoenix will shift from Hope street to Bradford and Thames street in its new building named Phoenix Building formerly the Manchester building. Moving heavy presses and equipment aims for no Friday edition delay. Tuesday’s edition will print in morning with Monday noon deadline for ads. The first floor has been converted from a restaurant to a printing office to improve service.

Injured at Rubber Factory

Antonio French aged 25 a Providence helper for Central Construction Company Pawtucket suffered severe back injuries after a fall from a factory staging at National India Rubber Company at 430 pm Wednesday coworkers moved him to the factory hospital where Dr Alfred M Merriman treated him and ordered transfer to Rhode Island Hospital Memorial ambulance carried him away

Bristol Community Service board discusses playground plan

The Bristol Community Service board met in Burnside Memorial Hall with President Charles B Rockwell Sr presiding. They discussed relocations for a playground between the reservoir and Mount Hope avenue, consider flooding a common for winter skating, and planned a map study and nominating committee for future executive posts. Ruth Sherburne of the Playground and Recreation Association of America will assist next month.

Funeral of J W Franklin

Funeral services for James Wallace Franklin longtime executive of the National India Rubber Company were held at his Wood Street home with Rev Frederick L Maryon officiating. Mourners included officials from Providence Lodge and Bristol Aerie and many rubber industry leaders from New England. The cortege paused at the National India Rubber Company plant as employees paid respects.

Eagles Hold Special Meeting After Death of James W. Franklin

Bristol Aerie No 953 Fraternal Order of Eagles met Wednesday night on Hope Street to act on the death of James W Franklin. Members prayed at his home afterward and voted to attend the funeral in a body.
