Delegates from Societies of the district gathered at the State Street M. E. Church on Tuesday for the Epworth League convention, outlining plans and discussions for upcoming activities.
A multi-town Epworth League convention met at State Street Methodist Church with delegates from Bristol Providence Newport Warren Drownville Portsmouth and Middle town attending sessions led by Rev. C. A. Stenhouse. Addresses covered evangelistic work youth training and personal effort. William Henry Bullock died at age 28 at his Constitution Street home after a brief illness. Funeral and burial followed at North Cemetery with Hydraulion Engine Company bearing the body.
The Providence Telephone Company finished a direct line from Fall River to Warren enabling Bristol and Warren residents to reach Providence more quickly without intermediate connections. The Bristol Fall River rate drops to 15 cents from 25 cents.
An advertisement extols Hyomei as a guaranteed cure for catarrh. It describes how inhaling the remedy reaches throat, bronchial tubes, and lungs to kill catarrhal germs, soothe mucous membranes, and drive the disease from the system. It lists symptoms and promises refund if Hyomei fails to cure.
Charles B Richards died at 16 Wellington Street Providence yesterday morning in his 43rd year from valvular heart disease and a blood tumor. For about ten years he ran the Bristol laundry business, delivering to Providence and supervising work in town. He leaves a wife, a son and a daughter and an adult stepson who will take over the laundry. A respected, energetic businessman with many friends.
Providence officers visited Warren on Tuesday seeking Michael Silvestri, who killed his brother Giovanni Silvestri in Providence Monday afternoon and fled. They suspected the family mill tenement near the cotton mill in Warren as a possible hideout but found no trace. A separate notice urges mothers to use Boshee German Syrup to treat colds, claiming quick relief for children and adults with a trial size bottle offered at druggists.
