The Colt Memorial high school library hosted the monthly School Committee meeting with most members present. Superintendent Hobbs outlined openings and enrollment figures, congestion measures, and transfers amid a temporary plan. the high school enrollment reached 202 with postgraduates.
Miss Helen Keller hosted an informal dinner at 19 Byfield Street for Miss Mary Elizabeth Tobin, daughter of Mr and Mrs John Tobin. Twelve place settings featured pap pasquash plates and cut blue and white decorations. A musical program followed and Tobin, a Colt Memorial high school graduate, plans to enter the Convent of Mercy on Sept. 23.
The Armistice Day Committee met at Hotel Belvedere to plan the parade and events. Members appointed include Fish, Dunbar, Hill, Smith, Francis, LePage, and Suzman with roles for music, chief marshal, sports, automobiles, and badges. Invitations were sent to state officials and local organizations. A 10 mile exhibition run may feature Clarence De Mar, and the Town Council may add a new member. Next meeting scheduled for Friday evening September 24.
Manuel Louis Alves 19 of 11 Catherine Street received 30 days in Providence County Jail after admitting to harming his mother with a soap cake and previous abuse. Other defendants faced fines or continued hearings for intoxication, assault, and speeding offenses.
Real estate transfers entered yesterday include Antonio Cruz Almeida to Rafael da Cruz Martins two lots on the Minton plat Domenico De Christofaro to Raffaele Cirillo and wife four lots on Wood Street Park plat Homeward Land Trust Boston to Michelangelo Anania and wife two lots on Gooding Manor plat Annie Bucolo to Elizabeth Annarummo land and buildings on the north side of Bradford Street
James Joseph Velleca aged 50 of Richmondate and Julia Norma De Felice aged 27 of High Street, both of this town, filed marriage intentions yesterday at the Town Clerk's office.
