Kingsmen Corps Win Class AS Junior State Award
The Kingsmen Corps won the Class A Juniors state championship plaque at Victory Field. Edward hb, Kingsmen guard captain, won the junior color guard title. Dennis Ferro, drum major, took junior drum major honors. Edward Waddell earned junior snare drummer. The corps has a 16 year Rhode Island Association state championship record.

Midget Football Bowl Game At Guileras Field
The Almeida No237 sponsored event in May at Guileras Field in Wellesley Massachusetts features the Post against the Welpey Tornadoes, Massachusetts state champions with a 23 night records. Weights 10 pounds per midget, expecting a large crowd and 9 visiting cheerers. A trophy will be presented with town officials and VFW reps attending. Kingsmen Eugene and Corps will perform at halftime. Ralph Nash and Eric Dober Aman to kick the first ball. dedication for Bristol youth noted.

Members of the Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church honored Joseph Goulart, past-president and secretary, at the eleventh annual dinner dance held at The Castle on Sept 3. He received a gold pin for his devotional services to church and society. The presentation was made by Jose Botelho, vice president, in the presence of other officers.

Public Schools Here Are Filled To Capacity
Public schools face space and transportation strains amid rising enrollment. Superintendent Edward J. Fitzgerald cites a 21 student rise at Senior High from 457 to 478 and an overall district gain of 39, with Elementary up from 965 to 1,005. An extra bus is in service as a temporary measure and a bus committee meets this week.

Candlelight Procession Honors Fatima Vision at St Elizabeths
Thousands attended the 11th annual candlelight procession in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. About 2,500 people marched from Franklin Street to St. Elizabeth's Church, where Rev. Henrique Rocha spoke as a white marble statue of the Blessed Mother glowed among pale yellow roses. The event links to Fatima 1917 urging prayer for peace and Russia's conversion. The first service and procession were held October 12, 1985, at Guiteras Field, with later changes due to weather and distance.
