The Rogers Free Library board heard that substantial funds remain to finish the new library under construction. Contractor Harry Bernstein, head of Narragansett Bay Construction Co., expected to complete Phase 1 by week’s end. Original bid was 108,928 dollars. initial funds 53,208 dollars. Additional donations from the building fund campaign led by Mrs. Barnes Newberry Jr. raised the total, but a shortfall of about 25,000 dollars remains after projected savings of over 4,000 dollars from altered specifications. Efforts continue to contact large donors and foundations for support.

Tax Bills Postponed Again. Mail Remittances To Speed Collections
Tax bills mailing was postponed to today. Alfred N. Nunes, town treasurer, cites a revised tax roll and new office layout enabling faster collections. Taxpayers advised to mail remittances with stamped self addressed envelopes and can pay one fourth one half three fourths or full before Sept 30. A 1958 1959 budget copy accompanies bills for record of expenditures. Assessments are based on ownership as of December 31.

Women's Club Receives Flag From G A R at Bristol Meeting
The Bristol Women's Club met last night at the Rhode Island Veterans Home. Mrs. Mary E. Tilman presented an American flag representing the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic to club president Mrs. Charles J. Tappero. Mrs. Andrew Roth led the national anthem while Mrs. Emma Rounds and Earl provided organ and piano selections. Refreshments followed under Regina C. Farley and assistants. A short business session elected Mrs. Holmes sunshine chair and Mrs. Earl G Sturdevant to represent the club at state federation meetings. A A Pansa became ways and means chair.

School Board Discusses Kindergarten Policy Crowding

YMCA Forms Touch Football League for High School Boys
The YMCA plans a touch football league for boys in grades 10 through 12. Recreation director Hector Massa invited interested youths to the Town Common at 32 o'clock this afternoon to report. Three leagues will operate: a grade league for grade 6 and below, a junior league for grades 7 through 9, and a high league for grades 10 through 12.
