Bristol group to open free picnic grounds for families
Local residents form the Childrens Grove Association to secure a state charter and develop four and a half acres between Main Road and Bristol Highlands into an accessible public picnic and playground. Henry M. Gibson deeds land, landscape work by John Deols progresses, a stone wall rises, a fountain and pool are planned, and a shelter house may be built. The grounds aim for women and children with full family access, to open next summer under a superintendent.
