2250 Students Return To Studies Tomorrow In Ten Bristol Schools

War or no war, 2250 children resume studies tomorrow in 10 Bristol schools under the direction of 78 teachers led by Superintendent Elmer Mapes. Staff changes include four new appointments and three transfers, with enrollments down in elementary grades but steady in senior and junior high levels. Overcrowding persists at Guiteras junior high, Colt Memorial adds a new high school, and maintenance work continues as routes and programs remain similar to last year.

Briggs elected 21st Commander of Kearney Legion Post

Walter E. Briggs was unanimously chosen as the 21st Commander of Kearney Post No. 6 American Legion at Friday’s election in Hydrasion Engine and Hose Company Hall. Council to consider relief for Bristol unemployment

Bristol Town Council meets in Burnside Memorial building to discuss a relief plan for 107 workers dismissed from WPA rolls last week. The Work Relief Bureau led by William H Angevine and council members will seek SAR projects to place laid off workers and ask for a $12 000 town meeting to fund $2000 for dependent children and the rest for relief.
