The third Excelsior Tennis Club championship drawings were completed this morning. With small entries in men’s and women’s doubles the tournament will run only singles tomorrow at Silver Creek, featuring players such as Miss Reynolds, Miss Church, Miss Colt, Miss Seabury, Mrs. Brightman, and Dr. Church among others.

Warships in Harbor Near Pappasquash Point

The gunboat Ranger stayed anchored off Pappasquash Point all day yesterday as North Carolina and Montana moved up the bay toward Providence river for the Deeper Waterways Convention. Shallow water blocked their proceed, so the vessels anchored there overnight and sailors enjoyed shore liberty in Bristol in government launches.

The annual outing of Hirst Baptist Church is planned for September 10 at Hunt's Milla with supper and toast in the G A R Hall hosted by the Class of 1911. Edgehill Temple No. 3 Pythian Sisters also holds its first annual outing at Gibson Park.

Bristol Pastor Called to Lead Missionary Work in South Carolina

Rev. T. Newton Owen, pastor of Bristol's Congregational Church, has been invited by the American Missionary Association to direct their Colored education and mountain white outreach in South Carolina with headquarters at Avery Normal Institute in Charleston. Owen previously served the association in 1895 96 teaching Greek Testament at Talladega Theological Seminary. He graduated Hamilton College 1892 and was ordained in Albany.
