Hydraulion Engine and Hose company members and friends held their annual field day and clambake at Mt Hope Park Saturday. A drizzling northeasterly shower did not dampen sports under roofs then a hearty dinner by C L Baker followed by a lively baseball double feature between the Never Sweats and the Scalpers. Captains Potter and Church led teams. third baseman King starred and the umpire earned praise before chowder and farewell remarks as the party returned to the station. Timothy Gately Dies in Metacom Avenue Residence
Timothy Gately a long time Bristol resident aged 63 died Sunday morning at Daniel Shea's Metacom avenue home from cirrhosis after a period of illness. He came to Bristol as a boy from Bristol and worked as a laborer unmarried with two sisters surviving. His funeral was held yesterday from Mr. Shea's home with services at St. Mary’s Church and interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery Warren. Rent receipts for sale at Phoenix Office.

Bristol County Jail Holds Woman in Turpentine Abortion Case
Mrs. Melvina DeChene, about 35, was jailed Sunday evening at Warren on trial prep for administering turpentine to Victoria Berlander, 23, to procure an abortion. DeChene, once of Fall River, has five children cared for by authorities in Warren. Berlander, under doctor care, may die.
