Memorial notice honors Bishop Howe and hospital ties

Public Laws Chapter 396 Little Compton to Buy Railroad Bonds

The town of Little Compton is authorized to purchase Tiverton and Seaconner Point Railroad Company bonds secured by a first mortgage up to twenty five thousand dollars. A town meeting vote approving the purchase is required, with funding from the treasury or by loan. A committee appointed at the town meeting shall carry out the purchase.

Rhode Island State Fair opens Labor Day week 1896

The Rhode Island State Fair Association plans a Labor Day opening with amusements, animal exhibits, and farm products at Narragansett Park Providence. Entries must be in by Aug 24, 1896, with mail preferred, and all exhibits ready by Sept 5. The fair will feature vaudeville and novelty shows on a large Midway.
