Veterans Attend New York Convention of Collins & Aikman Club

Eighty six members of the Quarter Century Club of Collins & Aikman gathered in New York City for their two day annual convention. The event featured a banquet at the Hotel Roosevelt, tribute to long service, and a visit to the New York World's Fair with tours of automotive and furniture exhibits showcasing fabrics from Collins & Aikman mills.

Alumni Association postpones Saint Marys costume party

The St Marys Alumni costume party date moved from tomorrow to Wednesday November 6. The event requires costumes for entry and will be held in the church auditorium. Committee members include Ruth Tattrie chairlady Clare Partington Elizabeth King Helen Preble Bernard King and John McCarthy. Masquerade Party Planned for Sunday School Pupils

Anthony J Pinheiro of 175 Wood Street is the towns first draftee in the nations first peace-time draft. Secretary of State Henry Stimson drew capsule 158 from the glass bowl in Washington at 12 15 noon. The second local draftee is William Alfred Rego of 180 Bay View Avenue, with draft number 105.

Auto Strikes Man Leaving Truck Near Belvedere Hotel

Marden P Martin of 63 Ford Street Providence was struck by a car driven by Dorothy M Foster of 11 Peck Avenue Providence as he stepped from a parked truck in front of the Belvedere Hotel. He suffered facial and head lacerations and was taken to Providence.

Armistice Day Plans Advance Through Local Committees

Plans for the Armistice Day observance are advancing led by George R. Fish of Kearney Post. The morning parade has acceptances from Bristol Chapter DAR Town Council Senator Bertram W Wall Bristol Troops Boy Scouts Colt High School Band and American Legion groups. Sergeant Walter Briggs named chief marshal. A Colt school evening program includes the band soloists and the World War veterans roll call. Banquet committee chair Donald Gladue will finalize plans at Friday’s Post Home meeting with a banquet set for November 9 and a three day celebration to follow.

Hallowe'en Party Held In St Michael's Parish Hall

Miss Nancy Heilborn, Miss Dorinda Dixon, Wesley A Armstrong Jr, and Robert E Bullock won prizes for best costumes at a Halloween party in St Michael's Parish Hall. Two prizes went to St Andrew's Club Juniors and two to guest girls. Canon Parshley and Miss Dunstan Mathewson and Darling judged about 30 masqueraders. The same trio helped George Pailthorpe with refreshments as hall decorations included a miniature farm scene.
