Industrial Trust keeps operations with 90 day withdrawals
The Industrial Trust Company continues normal operations at its home office and branches with a 90 day notice required for withdrawals from the Participation savings accounts. The 90 day rule aims to curb panic, while the checking, drafts, mortgages, and loans proceed as usual. O S Sweetland, appointed court temporary receiver for Union Trust, is reviewing affairs and hopeful for depositor payment. Banks gain from interest on withdrawn accounts amid higher demand for safe deposit boxes, but endure extra labor and anxiety.
