Charles B. Rockwell president Bristol Community Fund leads the parade and rally at Cort Memorial High School with Rear Admiral Gilbert C. Hoover and Mrs. Gladys Mightman as aides. Police and campaign leaders join Bristol District Nursing, Girl Scouts, Y M C A and Boy Scouts in the Red Feather Welfare Agencies drive. Major Raymond Pettine will speak. event starts 7:30 pm, parade from State and Hope Streets at 7:15 pm.

Planning Board Approves Rego Farm Plat with Exceptions

The Planning Board voted to recommend approval of the Rego Farm Plat with engineering exceptions. Forty dead end roadways would be accepted as provided, including 70 foot turnarounds. Church Road at the High Street should be renamed Bennett Street in honor of former Town Clerk Massadore Bennett. Ridge road in the Bayside Park development would be renamed Crest Road.

Change In Office Hours Announced By Town Council

Town Council President Gilbert C Over announced a new schedule for office hours. They will be held 2 to 3 p.m. on the first and Wednesday of the month. The change aims to improve turnout for the ice hour plan after very low participation. Last week one person attended and none in earlier weeks.

One-Side Parking Plan Extended by Town Council

After a two hour executive session the Town Council and the Traffic Committee voted to extend the one side parking plan for another period until January 1. The extension allows time to study a 21 point traffic program prepared by Hope Street business and professional men.

Change In Bus Schedules Planned

Unless complaints are received by October 30 the ABC bus from Barrington at 7:30 a.m. daily will be removed and a bus from Narrows to Bristol at 7 p.m. substituted to allow movie attendance. Complaints should be made to Town Clerk John W. Church.

Fire safety drive trains students for Halloween dangers

Bristol teachers and Fire Chief Fred J Guevremont unveil a new driver training program using a Pontiac car loaned by the Pontiac Motor Division. The project, supported by AAA and the State Safety Committee, aims to curb fire hazards on Halloween through theory and soon real road instruction. Seventy two students, aged 16 plus, study in free time, with DMV inspectors to grant licenses after testing.
