Teachers Retirement Fund Drive Progress Report

Red Feather workers have reported only 345.60 toward a 12000 goal 29 percent in the town. Chairman Stephen W Hopkins and Co chair Frank J Murphy urged timely reports from solicitors to gauge drive progress. Nine year old hit by car on Wood Street

A nine year old boy, Frank Miranda Jr., was struck while crossing Wood Street near East Burial Ground Friday afternoon. He suffered a fracture to the left leg and was treated by Dr. William L. Serbst before being taken home by police. The driver, T. P. Moniz, 24, of 61 Walden Avenue, was driving south.

Bristol Gifts Support Community Chest Services

Bristol residents utilized 2,503 services provided by Community Chest agencies in state and town last year. Highlights include 801 District Nurses, 118 hospital care, 350 Boy Scouts, 187 Girl Scouts, 877 YMCA, 42 chest x ray, and 14 International Institute among others, with $500 donations from Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Palmer.

The Bristol Townies defeated the Riverside Crescents 6 to 0 at East Providence Pierce Stadium in a tense Sunday game. A late third quarter pass from Mas to Freitas for the lone Bristol touchdown decided the contest as Bristol's defense stifled Crescent passing attempts. Police and officials maintained order after a fourth quarter incident involving Riverside tackle Bob Sullivan.
