The Bristol Boy Scout Bugle and Drum Corps announce a townwide salvage drive next Sunday to raise funds for equipment. Residents will have old newspaper magazines rags rubber and scrap metal collected, marking the first postwar salvage effort in the town.
Bristol Ferry residents demanded council action on faulty sewage disposal at the October 5 meeting. Council President Gilbert C Hoover will coordinate with the special survey committee and review the engineers Fay Spofford and Thorndike report.
Red Feather workers have reported only 345.60 toward a 12000 goal 29 percent in the town. Chairman Stephen W Hopkins and Co chair Frank J Murphy urged timely reports from solicitors to gauge drive progress. A nine year old boy, Frank Miranda Jr., was struck while crossing Wood Street near East Burial Ground Friday afternoon. He suffered a fracture to the left leg and was treated by Dr. William L. Serbst before being taken home by police. The driver, T. P. Moniz, 24, of 61 Walden Avenue, was driving south.

Navy Day speaker on October 27 will be Capt W H Ashford of the War College Staff at Newport. Jim O Connell Newport businessman with a 23 year Rotary attendance record was among last week's guests.
Bristol residents utilized 2,503 services provided by Community Chest agencies in state and town last year. Highlights include 801 District Nurses, 118 hospital care, 350 Boy Scouts, 187 Girl Scouts, 877 YMCA, 42 chest x ray, and 14 International Institute among others, with $500 donations from Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Palmer.
Wally Gautreau former Boston Braves second baseman and NL scout will speak at the Twilight League banquet held at Midaway Steak and Lobster House Thursday evening. The event, arranged through the Braves front office, includes motion pictures with toastmaster Joseph H. Farrell.

The Bristol Townies defeated the Riverside Crescents 6 to 0 at East Providence Pierce Stadium in a tense Sunday game. A late third quarter pass from Mas to Freitas for the lone Bristol touchdown decided the contest as Bristol's defense stifled Crescent passing attempts. Police and officials maintained order after a fourth quarter incident involving Riverside tackle Bob Sullivan.
Columbus Day was celebrated at a banquet of the Men of Mount Carmel Church Sunday evening at the Midway Steak and Lobster House. Over 200 persons were present with speakers Rev John Rubba DOP chairman of Providence College languages, Guido Martinez Italian Consular agent in Providence, and Rev Emilio Donanzan acting pastor of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church.
The Hallowe'en Committee reports weekly contributions from numerous donors and organizations including the Bristol YMCA Junior, Bristol Childrens Home, and the Bristol Drug Company. Names such as Burke Frederick Foster, Hezekiah W. Church, William T Cashin, Miss Alice B Wyatt, and Edward L. Bristol appear among contributors. The balance from earlier acknowledgments is listed with various private and civic supporters.
A hunter recalls shooting a mountain goat with 180 grain and 220 grain rounds at around two hundred yards, describing a hard, bloody pursuit and the animal’s collapse.
