Episcopal Meeting Draws Many From State Rhode Island Branch Event

The Rhode Island Branch of the Women's Auxiliary to the National Council will host a conference at St Michael's Church with Rt Rev James DeWolf Perry presiding. Principal speakers include Rt Rev Shirley H Nichols of Kyoto Japan and Miss Katherine Cothrain of Boston. Holy Communion at 10 15 a m, sessions at 11 a m and 2 p m with a box luncheon at 1 p m.

Newly elected officers of United Brothers Lodge No. 13 I O O F were installed at Odd Fellows Hall High Street. District Deputy Grand Master Harold E. Names of officers include Noble Grand O Reid LeClair and Financial Secretary Amasa C Willis ton among many appointed positions. Refreshments followed with William H Remieres chairing the social committee.

Bristol School Committee Minutes Report Health Concerns

The local school committee met at Colt Memorial High School for 59 minutes. Nurse Mary Sanford reported more impetigo cases than in recent years, with 35 treated and 3 exclusions. Enrollment totals and class changes were reviewed, along with truancy figures and eye care efforts for 54 children.

Engineers Begin Hope Street Interceptor Sewer Surveys

Engineers led by Mr R S Holmgren start preliminary surveys along Hope Street to prepare plans for an interceptor sewer as part of a new disposal system. An office on Thames Street becomes their headquarters. Work is expected to take six to eight weeks with trench digging to begin within three months.

New York County Now 22 Square Miles After Bronx Split

Reader clipping notes Pathfinder Magazine claims New York county on Manhattan Island is the nation’s smallest. In 1914 Bronx county was formed reducing its area to 22 square miles, two less than Bristol county Rhode Island.

Woman Injured in Auto Crash Tuesday Evening

Mrs. Evelyn Viera of 110 Washington Street was severely injured when she was thrown from a truck cab that collided with a car at Hope and Bradford streets. The truck driver Jose De Paiva was also injured along with three Viera family members and two children. Callaghan's car sustained minor damage. De Paiva was summoned to appear at the Fifth District Court.

Ferrycliffe Farm Turkeys Win Coveted Distinction

Ferrycliffe Farm of this town owned by Dr and Mrs Halsey DeWolf won the honor of exhibiting Rhode Island’s best turkeys. Manager Glen Smith will display four birds including an old Tom a hen a young Tom and a pullet at the Rhode Island Agricultural Conference at Rhode Island State College during the final three days of next week.
