The troupe handled a small crowd with good humor and earned several encores, prompting hopes for a future return.

Death of Bristol native Frederica Manchester in Providence

A Bristol native, Frederica Herreshoff Manchester, died in Providence on Saturday October 10 after a long illness. He was 59, son of the late Wm C Manchester, a carpenter and boat-builder. Born at Constitution and Thames, he moved to Providence in 1858 and labored for French & McKenzie until retirement a year ago. He leaves a widow, one son, two daughters, including a Providence schoolteacher, and three Bristol brothers. He was modest and well regarded in both Bristol and Providence communities.

Bazaar Opens With Parades At Dreadnaught Hook Co

The bazaar of Dreadnaught Hook Ladder and Hote Co No 1 opened in Artillery Wednesday evening with a principal street parade led by the Bristol Cornet Band and the Bristol Light Infantry under the Burnside Drum Corps. The hall looked attractive and the opening night was a success despite bad weather. Murphy Munro's orchestra provided music as dancing began. Last night another parade escorted King Philip Steamer Co as guests, with a good attendance and Capron giving a dancing exhibition and introducing new dances.

Birthday Tribute To Longtime Shoe Dept Overseer

Miss Hattie Warren received a handsome table plant bouquet and flowers from about 150 colleagues in the shoe department at the Bnet Ende tun GO rubber factory. Col. J. B. Burgess gave the presentation speech. it was his 150th employee tribute. Nearly 600 workers witnessed the surprise presentation.

Warren hearing on Bristol County Gas and Electric franchise

The Bristol County Gas and Electric Co petitioned Warren Council for a 25 year exclusive franchise to erect maintain poles wires pipes and cables in streets to produce sell and distribute electricity and gas. A public hearing drew many opposed. The council postponed a decision. The company offered to cut street light rates to 17.50 annually and to burn lights only until 12 30 am while paying the town one percent of gross receipts.
