Notre Dame Team Sets Record In Scout Football Night

At Scout Hall the Beta Pi patrol led by Léonard Abenante staged a mock college football game counting yards for touchdowns in a 21 point win over rival patrols Boston University Army Harvard and Ever Ready. Judges included Scoutmaster Fish and aides. The troop announced a joint Halloween party with Troop 4 and a President’s Night program featuring five former presidents.

Civic League plans grand Frolic with floor show

The Bristol Portuguese American Women’s Civic League outlines extensive plans for a season premier Frolic. Music by the Casino Orchestra will accompany dancing though the floor show is the main feature. Souvenirs will be given, and a capacity gathering is expected. Mrs Joseph J Marshall leads the frolic committee with assistance from several members including Mrs Rose Sousa and Mrs Clara Sylvia.

Arrangements are under way for a Sunday double header in Warren between Bristol players and a Warren aggregation of local tossers. The Bristol team will mainly comprise members from the Portuguese AA roster this season.

Bristol Youth Hikes 200 Miles to Surrender for Burglaries

William Bullock a 19 year old Bristol youth hiked from New York City to the town to surrender to police. He confessed to burglaries at several homes between Sept and Oct including Atkinson 91 Burton, Molasky 2 Bradford, Cabral 1602 Hope and Brightman 40 Usher, with stolen watches money and a ring.

Court fines truck driver for defective brakes in Bristol

Judge William T. O'Donnell fined Frank Lombardi 15 dollars and costs after inspectors found his truck had defective emergency and foot brakes. The arrest stemmed from a state and local road check. In a separate matter Joseph Serpa faced probable guilt for reckless driving causing a fatal crash that killed his 13 year old brother James. Bail remained at 1000 dollars with a grand jury bound over. Other cases saw continuances in Town of Bristol v Rego and Wells v Dunbar as new testimony prompted delays.
