Rhode Island charities conference set in Bristol
The seventh annual meeting of the Rhode Island State Society of Charities and Corrections will be held in Bristol next Wednesday October 20 with three sessions at 10 am 3 pm and 8 pm in the Belvedere Hotel Sun Parlor The dinner at 6 15 pm costs one dollar and is open to members and friends Visitors from across the state and beyond are invited with about fifty guests expected Local arrangements include Bristol automobile tours between 1 and 2 pm A detailed program features speakers on child care the working girl unemployment and related social issues.

Garden Club Organized for Flower Raising and Garden Layout
A Tuesday gathering at Mrs. S. S. Drury's home formed a group to organize a Garden Club. Mrs. E. S. Babbitt was named honorary president, Miss S. W. G. Peck treasurer pro tem, with dues set at fifty cents. A nominating committee was named and plans discussed joining Garden Club of America. The list of current members includes many local residents. the next meeting is at Mrs. Babbitt's garden on Saturday afternoon, October 16.

Bristol Knights of Columbus Install Officers in Hall
Bristol Council No. 379 Knights of Columbus installed its officers at a Wednesday evening ceremony in K of C Hall with District Deputy Mortimer A. Sullivan of Newport as installing officer and Warden Dr J C Martin of Newport assisting. State Secretary James F Lavander spoke as toastmaster at a Providence Columbus Day banquet. Grand Knight Joseph C Duffy served as Assistant Marshal at the parade. A supper followed, and M J Doyle was re appointed Lecturer. Kiernan to report on the last National Convention at the next meeting.
