Rhode Island Endeavor Society installs Alpha Chapter officers

Alpha Chapter of the First Congregational Church at Providence concluded a state Christian Endeavor conference with the installation of officers: George H. Wilson president Louis Durgin vice president Ethelyn Prey secretary Jessie Sanford treasurer Addison Hill devotional chair Eleanor Rae social chair. Nearly 200 attendees enjoyed a full afternoon and evening program including devotionals lectures films and a banquet.

Armistice Day Fund Seeks Public Support For Observance

A local Armistice Day committee formed by the Town Council and Kearney Post of the American Legion appeals to the public for donations to fund the observance. Funds are to balance economy with dignity, with checks accepted at the Phoenix Office or James F Duffy's Store. The 1934 balance stands at 1449 dollars and contributions from Taft School Club and Rotary Club totaled 2 dollars and 5.08 dollars respectively.

Armistice Day Parade Moved to Morning Observance

Armistice Day committee votes to shift the grand military firemen and civic parade to the morning to avoid conflicts with a Providence program. Past Commander Joseph M. Edmonds is invited as Chief Marshall. Donations totaling $7 from the Rotary Club and Taft School club close the official contributions. Chairman A A Edmonds to form a three member committee for memorial exercises at Cott Memorial High School auditorium on Nov 10.

New Haven railroad officials will meet with Bristol County towns to discuss extending the five cent zone fare on the Providence Bristol line after a six month trial. The program aimed to boost ridership but has waned in recent months.

Queer Shovers Pass Bill in Bristol

Police learned that a group calling themselves the Queer Shovers moved from Warren to Bristol on Friday and swindled one customer, Francis P. McGovern, secretary of the Bristol Board of Tax Assessors, out of 10 dollars using a counterfeit bill. A second break-in at 60 Catherine Street on Thursday yielded 24 dollars in currency, with entry via a ladder to reach a first floor window.
