One-Hour Parking Enforced On Hope Street Monday

Police will start enforcing one hour parking on Hope Street beginning Monday after a Town Council meeting. Chief Anthony J. Ferrara said tags will not be issued until then to allow fair space for shoppers, noting congestion and double parking as the main issues. The council directed police to enforce traffic regulations to the extent possible, with attention to the Hope Street rule.

Final United War Fund Drive Opens in Holmes House

The War Fund Office is open daily at Holmes House with Gladys M Brightman on duty. Frederick S Bartlett announces State Senator Fred C Broomhead will speak at Rockwell Hall rally on Wednesday evening. The War Fund Movie Here Come the Yanks will be shown and workers kits distributed after the meeting.

The Bristol Senior High School Athletic Association elected officers at the first meeting of the year in the Colt Auditorium. President Anthony Santull and Vice President Albert Osterberg lead a slate that includes Treasurer John Massamo, Assistant Treasurer Edward Travers, and Secretary Nancy Ferrara. Rubbish Drive Reports 82 Loads Collected Over Three Days

Reynolds Northup of the highway department says 82 loads of rubbish were gathered in a three day drive. Two trucks with six men operated south of Church Street on day one and north of Church Street thereafter. The last collection yielded 101 loads and the next drive begins November 5 with the same plan.
