Bristol Boy Scouts observe New Era Night with exercises

The First Bristol Troop, Boy Scouts of America, announced a new era in its program at Scout Hall. Edward Alesandro and John G Anen ante were promoted to junior assistant scoutmasters while Joseph Arouca became senior patrol leader. A New ERA contest will run until December 15 with a winter camping trip to Camp Yawgoog as the prize.

Funeral Services Today for Mrs Delima C Lemaire

Funeral services were held at St Marys Church for Mrs Delima Chabot Lemaire who died after a long illness at the home of her daughter in Fall River. She moved from Canada to Bristol area 41 years ago and was an active church and American Legion Auxiliary member. She is survived by ten children and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Burial followed at St Marys Cemetery with relatives serving as bearers.

Callan For Governor Club Forms in Bristol County

About twenty five Bristol County representatives met at Hotel Belvedere to form the Callan For Governor Club. They praised Brig Gen Luke H Callan for a Republican candidacy and said he would likely win if nominated at the Rhode Island State Convention on October 10.

Protection During Strike Costs Town 208.16

Acting Police Chief Anthony J. Ferrara announced the town spent 208.16 to guard workers at the Collins Aikman Mills during the textile strike disorders. The expense covered 400 hours of overtime by regular and reserve officers.

Harvest Dance Planned in Colt Auditorium for Alumni

The Bristol Colt High Alumni Association announces an annual Harvest Dance on Friday evening Oct 19 at the Colt Memorial High School Auditorium with Edward F E Lewys 28 as arrangements chair. A Massachusetts orchestra is being sought to provide music for dancing and a larger gathering is anticipated. Brief Fifth District Court Session Ends in Five Seconds

The Fifth District Court held a notably brief session with Judge Benjamin F Lindemuth taking five seconds to dispose of two disorderly persons cases. The Democratic Town Committee filed a new slate to limit allies of Brigadier General Luke H Callan a possible GOP governor nominee.
