Expedition pilot Harold June to speak on Byrd polar travels
Bristol Rotarians will hear Harold J June recount his polar experiences from the second Byrd Antarctic expedition at noon tomorrow in the Hotel Belvedere. June, former Bristol resident, also served as pilot and radio operator with Rear Admiral Byrd on early South Pole flights. Plans for a possible third Arctic expedition are discussed, not likely to start for at least two years. June and his wife and daughter visit local hosts Edmund L. Lemaire on Cottare Street.

Providence Man Found Guilty of Reckless Driving
Arthur T Payette of 1202 West Westminster Street Providence was found guilty of reckless driving after a lengthy trial before Judge William T O'Donnell in Fifth District court He was fined 50 dollars and costs but posted 300 bail on appeal The verdict noted Payette failed to protect life and property after his heavily loaded truck struck a curb tree and an automobile on August 12 near Hope Street The witnesses testified speeds of 40 to 45 miles per hour and the driver Walsh veered left to avoid the truck Additional sentences included a separate 10 dollar and costs fine for George Chow Coggeshall on drunkenness and various other minor fines and continuances were noted The court warned attorneys about repeated continuances to clear the docket and urged prompt disposition of cases.

Bristol Council No 379 Knights of Columbus opens a Salvage Shop on State street starting tomorrow night and every Wednesday to distribute clothing and other goods to the town's needy. A truck will deliver items to homes and donations are urged to help buy shoes stockings and other school age apparel.
