Ladder Beats Hose in Dreadnaught Club Soccer Match

Two teams from Dreadnaught Hook Ladder and Hose Co No 1 played a lively football on the common yesterday morning. Ladder, captained by John Healey, won 1 0 as Eithier scored in the second half after a goalless first period. The Hose club, led by William Simmons, challenged but could not tally.

Two Syracuse men arrested for Bristol burglary

William J Lyons and Frank Bailey both of Syracuse N Y were arrested in Providence by Inspector Egan while trying to sell three carving sets and other items. Arraigned before Justice Philip Brady they faced district court on charge of breaking and entering Dr H M Howe summer home Ferry Hill. Bail set at 1000 each.

Town Grants Seventeen Liquor Licenses at Special Meeting

A Bristol town council special session approved seventeen liquor licenses, including Morris T M Co wholesale and multiple retail licenses for premises on Thames St Bradford St John St Wood St and Mount Hope Ave. Fees set at 700 for wholesale and 4765 for retail. A Bristol Reading Room club license was also granted and the sinking fund bonds placed in a safety vault.

Bristol Boy Scouts Plan Fall River Overnight Hike

The First Bristol Troop of Rhode Island Boy Scouts left this morning for an overnight hike to Fall River. They will camp along lunch break, stop around noon for a meal and a campfire. They expect to reach Fall River around 2 0 o'clock and use the YMCA as headquarters. They will attend a theatre, explore the city next day, then depart at 2 PM and return home before dark.

Comrade Benoni Lewis Dies at Soldiers' Home

Comrade Benoni Lewis died at the Soldiers' Home Tuesday evening from injuries after a fall. He was 71 years old, served in the Fourth Rhode Island regiment in the Civil War, lived in Providence as a street car conductor, and was admitted to the Home last September. The funeral was held this morning at St. Stephen's Episcopal church in Providence.

Funeral for Hiram Luther Held at North Cemetery

The funeral of Hiram Luther who died at the Soldiers Home was conducted Wednesday at 1 PM in the mortuary chapel at North Cemetery. Rev. W. F. S. Jackson officiated with bearers from the Home among the assembled comrades.
