First Annual Fair Opens in Grand Army Hall
The Rhode Island Company No.1 Uniform Rank K of P opened the first annual fair with Military Night in Grand Army Hall. Gov. Higgins attended arriving from the Franklin Street depot and was greeted with parades, speeches, and music. A large audience heard brief remarks by officials, while Antell’s orchestra provided dance music and door prizes drew crowds.

Congregational service featured Rev T Newton Owen reading Roosevelt proclamation and two harvest anthems with solo by Mr Carter.

Real Qoncelho No 8 celebrated its fifth anniversary in Columbia Hall Wood Street with representatives from Providence Fall River and New Bedford. A parade and new uniforms drew praise as speeches explained the order’s workings. Arrangements were led by An tone Sousa Joseph J Arruda Peter Galyao Manuel Ponte and Jacintho Martins. The home motto praised missed trains and alimony lines ended with a proverb.

Hydraulion Engine and Hose Company No 1 staged a Bristol Opera House minstrel show last evening to strong audience praise. Georges W Warren directed as performers in blackface and diverse acts drew cheers with end men and soloists including Miss Hall and Miss Rounds. The program featured Bowler Brothers duet, Lilian Wilson soprano and a large chorus. the event closed with Bonnie Jean. Will repeat tonight.
