First Annual Fair Opens in Grand Army Hall
The Rhode Island Company No.1 Uniform Rank K of P opened the first annual fair with Military Night in Grand Army Hall. Gov. Higgins attended arriving from the Franklin Street depot and was greeted with parades, speeches, and music. A large audience heard brief remarks by officials, while Antell’s orchestra provided dance music and door prizes drew crowds.

A parade and new uniforms drew praise as speeches explained the order’s workings. Arrangements were led by An tone Sousa Joseph J Arruda Peter Galyao Manuel Ponte and Jacintho Martins. The home motto praised missed trains and alimony lines ended with a proverb.

Georges W Warren directed as performers in blackface and diverse acts drew cheers with end men and soloists including Miss Hall and Miss Rounds. The program featured Bowler Brothers duet, Lilian Wilson soprano and a large chorus. the event closed with Bonnie Jean. Will repeat tonight.
