The Bristol Historical Society marks its 25th anniversary with a Monday 6:30 PM buffet at the White Coach on Metacom Avenue. Speaker Mrs Antoinette Forrester Downing will discuss houses recently restored in Providence and Bristol, with slides. she authored The Early Homes of Rhode Island and The Architectural Heritage of Newport.
Bristol Colts defeat Barrington Eagles 24 to 6 at Victory Field to secure the Eastern Division championship. Augie Almeida scores three touchdowns totaling 77 points this season, while Rusty Correia and Jan Rosso star on offense. Colts outgain 215 to 75 in rushing and gain 54 passing yards to Barrington’s 74. Strong defense by Paul Thorn Greg Bullock and Dick Alegria seals the win as Little Ray Almeida shines on tackles.
West Reverend John Seville Hig h Bishop of the Diocese of Island will preach at the Centennial Service Sunday morning at St. Vincent's Church. Canon Paley, rector, assists with Reverend Wings Stone of St. s Barrington aiding, music by senior and junior choirs, with an introit hymn Fear not the Spirit God of Peace. The service includes church-use items dedicated, such as a Festival Set of Altar hangings and a Communion Set, memorials for Wallis Howe and Wilhelmina Everett, and a Book of Remembrance for Wilhelmina Gillooly. A coffee hour follows.
There will be no Church School classes this Sunday. Bishop Higgins will administer Confirmation and celebrate Holy Communion at 8 am.
An estimated 3200 families and guests observed Thanksgiving in Bristol. Service members students and out of state visitors joined in the holiday gathering while Bristol police reported no serious traffic accidents. The day brought mild 48 degree weather making the Bristol Barrington game comfortable.
